Factory Service

I have a 2008 Monaco Dynasty motorhome. We are planning a trip to see some relatives in Bloomingdale, Illinois. This is within 200 miles of the Monaco factory in Decatur, Indiana. Since we would be so close to the Monaco Factory Service we were thinking of leaving the coach there and have them completely go through the coach while we were visiting relatives in Illinois. The coach is 5 years old and has several small problems and possibly a few big ones on the horizon that we don't know about. If they completely went through the coach, what we would have is a relative "new" coach when we left there. We would be putting the coach in the hands of the people who built it, so they should have the knowhow and the equipment to resolve almost any problems, plus they could update anything that would need it.
Has anyone ever done this? I'm looking for some input into my thinking along this line.

Any suggests or otherwise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I think it's been said once or twice on this list if it aint broke don't fix it. That really is a good saying. If something is broken and you can see the problem by all means have them fix it. But if your not having problems with certain things make sure they don't touch it. If it's working properly and they mess with it all they can do is break it. As far as the people that built it goes??? I am sure most of the folks that built it are gone and I am sure most of the plans for a 2008 are stored away some place in a far away land. Good repair shops are good and bad are bad. That's been my experience at any rate.

  • I used the "old" Monaco factory service four times. Schedule the appointment, have your list ready and the tech will go through the coach and list with you. Leave the coach and pick up when complete. I was pleased with the service. Cost was acceptable IMHO.
  • I have a better chance of being elected the next Pope than you have of NOT being ripped off!
  • You will be spending money for nothing. You must have a list of your problems. If there are no problems don't waste your time. What you are proposing could cost you $10,000 to fix nothing!

  • Becker,

If you are having chassis issues, I would take it to a Cummins Coach Care facility. The one in Kansas City, MO, is excellent.

For house issues or updates, I might would consider the factory or a secondary company that specializes in that type of work.

Is there anything particular that needs major attention?

  • Are you planning on leaving them a blank check?
It sort of sounds like you are giving it to them to fix what needs fixed, that YOU know about, and also take care of ANYTHING that THEY deem necessary. It might make better financial sense to trade the coach in on a new one from a local dealer. Just saying....
  • IF YOUR GONNA DO THIS???? make reservations with them ahead of time .and a list of things you want done. I,d make up a punch list and have account for what they done to each repair.
