Winnebago factory service

My local dealer and I have parted ways. I'm thinking about taking our MH to Winnebago for service. I need the windshield resealed and some paint touch up, the roof sides resealed, and want all the slide seals looked over. We bought it at the dealer in Forest City, and I'm wondering if i should do the dealer or the manufacturer for what I need done. Any suggestions?
  • Thanks tax man. Your not my favorite person this time of year! lol
  • I would call the dealer in Forest City, since that is where you bought it, and the Factory service center. I don't have a Winne but have asked several what it questions from both and have been very satisfied.

    Just my 2 cents.
  • Thank you all. Jim, I use the rv service reviews all the time. I have posted there myself. My question was specific to the Winnebago plant service.
  • For future reference, when you need service, always check this web site: RV Service Reviews

That's a good place to start investigating service shops for any service work, even if it's under warranty.
  • I would definitely recommend the factory service center. We've taken both our motorhomes there whenever they required service I was unwilling to do. They have the best trained and most courteous technicians in the business. They also have the best parts inventory since the motorhomes are manufactured about 100 yards from the service facility.

They will do whatever type of service and repairs you want. They will give you an estimate as to cost and the amount of time required to complete your requests.

Over the years we've been there probably half a dozen times and have never been disappointed.

In 16 years of owning Winnebago products we've only been a dealer one time for anything other than buying a motorhome. That one other time was to replace a defective propane tank. The dealer did excellent work, but had to wait several days to get the new tank shipped from Forest City. Since it's almost the same distance from our home to either the dealer or Forest City we now only go to Forest City. There's never been a wait for parts, or the need to get an OK from a district rep to proceed with a job.

Why not invest in a couple of phone calls to each and ask for an estimate plus what their guarantee would be on the work performed? Also ask about time to complete (and how they guarantee the that estimate, can you get a firm appointent, etc.)

IMHO, the Stealership would probably cost more, but what do I know?

I am thinking that calling the service providers themselves and discussing the issues would yield better results than posting on here, but what do I know? That's kind of like calling the Ford dealer and asking about the Chevrolet dealer's service!
  • Based on our experience with our visit to Winnebago in FC when we had our 2002 Journey and our visit to the Winne/CC factory in Oregon this past September, I would say go to the factory. They have everything needed to service/repair the coach. I would just not plan to do the FC visit around the time they have the GNR in July.

The folks who painted your coach, CDI, is right down the road from the Winnebago factory. Call Dave there to schedule your appointment for the paint work.
