Filling LP Tank

Is there a way to fill my on board LP tank without going to an LP dealer or having a delivery truck come to fill the 56 Gallon tank? Can I fill it myself using smaller tanks to transfer the LP? I assume it needs to be transferred under pressure. Does the extend-a-stay do this?
Thanks!
  • Moving it is not an issue, I just bought my MH in November, I was wondering if there was a way around having the LP delivered to the MH in my driveway or to go to the LP store and fill up there, Guess I will just take it when needed to my local LP dealer. Thanks!
  • I think the extend a stay allows you to hook up additional bottles. You will never be able to fill that 56 gallon tank off of smaller bottles. You can take the smaller bottles and have them filled if that is what you want. Then bring them back and reconnect. That will get old after a while. How fast are you consuming 56 gallons of propane? Can you not move the RV to refill? Then the delivery may be your best option with additional bottles.
  • An extend a stay works great for me. I use a 100lb tank during the winter, which I can easily get filled and leave the on board tank off. I can get thru the spring summer and fall on the on board tank. I fill up in the late fall and do it all over again. You can use whatever size tank you want, even a 20 or 30lb tank.
The kit is very easy to install. An extend a stay will not fill the on board tank. You have to go to a dealer or have it delivered.
