Easiest - put a 12v plug on the wire and plug it into that outlet when driving, unplug when not driving.
Best - get under the dash and find the fuse box. Use a VOM to find an empty fuse slot that is only hot with the ignition and use it.
Second Best - buy a fuse splitter, pull out a fuse from a switched circuit, plug this in with 2 fuses, and you have a hot wire.
