fire escape window???

I have a 2004 coachmen liberty. the driver side bedroom window is the fire escape.
when I turn the red handles nothing opens. If I push on it will the whole window fall out?
I would like to show the grandkids how to use it but don't want to break the window.
Anyone else know how this thing works?

    Mine is a sliding window. It and the screen just slide to the right.

    Mine is hinged as well. Great idea demonstrate it before its needed. I think a dealer should do it when the unit is sold, but they do not seem to, at least in my case.

    The window should not fall out. It is hinged at the top and should just swing out. You may have to push hard enough to break the seal that had developed over time because of non use.
