First class A, tippy feel when driving

I have had campers for several years.
Starting with a bumper pull, and working my way up thru 5th wheels.

I now have upgraded to a Class A, and am wondering if there is anything I can do to reduce the tippy feel when driving down the road.

It wasn't so awful that I was afraid of the machine, but I was uncomfortable...... I do understand that there will be some movement, but I`m just looking to make the drive a little more comfortable.

I have a 2005 Damon Daybrake 33' lg. My father Recently passed away, and I got the camper from my mother. it only has 34,000 miles on it, and the tires are in brand new condition.

Thank you,

  • It could be your driving. When I started driving class A's I wasn't very smooth and the rig would lean left and right slightly as my steering inputs were rather large. This was true even for the large diesel pushers I drove. As I got better at steering, the steering inputs became less and the ride became much smoother.
  • might find a friend or a dealer, cw not my choice, and have them do a test drive say 20 miles one way .I have a mom pop, dealer here in northeast ohio who is great ,
  • yes it is a Ford chassis, and im not positive about the shocks.....but it did NOT have the bouncy feel that weak shocks tend to have.

I had a 2003 Damon Challenger and had the same problem. I think most, if not all, of motorhomes built on the Ford chassis back then were the same. I also owned a 2011 Winnebago on a Ford chassis and it was a dream to drive, it was like day and night compared to the 2003 Damon.
  • I should have been clearer...... the tires were replaced a few years ago, and that is why they are in like new condition.... great tread, no cupping, no dry rot....ETC
  • Those tires are 14 years old. Normal life of a tire is 7 years. Due to the low mileage and lack of use, I would seriously consider a set of new tires.
