First trip with new tow successful

Bought a new truck, 2016 Silverado LTZ. Had to get set up to tow it with my golf cart in the back. On this truck you have to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery to keep the steering from locking. Turned out not to be a problem. Bought a portable power pack from Harbor Freight for $59. That supplied power to my brake buddy. Bought a 22" wireless tow mate bar that sits on the back of the golf cart once it is in the bed of the truck. The wireless transmitter plugged into the back of the motorhome. All systems worked great! Turned out not to be the nightmare that I envisioned when I traded in my 2005 Silverado...

  • Great glad to hear it worked. If you do it often, you can also install a cutoff switch for that battery terminal so you don't have to wrench it back on.
  • There's always a way. Good on you figuring it out. Just wondering how long it'll run the unit on a charge? Long trips an issue? It might be better to get a deep cycle and use that keeping it charge after towing.

We also have Wireless tow lights. They work great. Never going to splice again.
