Five Star Tuning Mod

I have a 2013 Itasca 35F and tow a 2012 Jeep. Been thru the Smoky's and Az., Nv., Co., Utah, Wy., S.D. I use the tow/haul mode all the time, never had any issue going up or down mtns.

Before we stray too far off my original post, based on my current driving profile, should/would I see enough benefits if install the tuning mod?

"That v-10 is built to rev high." Not only that you can't over reve it as it has a built in reve limiter. The person who blew up an engine going down hill didn’t use proper procedure.

Brake system on Colorado has nothing to do with using tow haul. If the rpms go to high hit the brake hard to scrub off some speed and then release and let the drivetrain keep the speed down.

If the PO blew the engine going downhill see above! Tow haul is NOT a Jake brake or exhaust brake, driver still needs to think and participate.:B

l'm not a fan of the tow haul because:
1. I have a brake system istalled in the Colorado
2. I don't like how, when tow haul kicks in, the RPM's go through the roof way too fast for me
3. Not sure if it had any bearing, but the p.o. blew engine going down an incline in Montana, towing a Equinox with less than 12k miles.

Maybe I'm just paranoid....

And the tow/haul mode will extend the shift points giving better acceleration.

Mileage and RVs..........HA that's an oxymoron

Travel speed 60-62 mph....that's were you are probably going to get your best mpg.

Any particular reason you don't use Tow/haul? Very beneficial when descending hills. Tap the brakes and it will downshift to use the lower gears to assist in maintaining a safe speed without having to use and overheat your brakes. It also locks up the torque converter sooner and keeps it locked longer. Hence, preventing slipping and heat generation.

With the newer 362hp engine with 457 lb ft of torque I would think you should have plenty of power and wouldn't need the power tune.

We have the older 310hp engine and I did get the tune for a bit more power, as we travel extensively out west navigating mountain grades. I was after the power and not overly concerned about fuel economy.

You might want to contact Mike at 5 Star tune and ask which tune would be best in your case.
