Fleetwood American Tradition Washing Machine/Dryer Problem

Model 40VS, Spartan Chassis. 1999 model

Bought the motorhome one month ago, leaving on 7/6 for cross country trip.

This morning I put a couple towels into the washing machine and turned it on... Fired right up and went through the wash cycle flawlessly. Disclaimer, I did NOT check the lint filter before I started the unit.

Then turned dryer on, wife put the dial to 40 minutes, but with 5 minutes left she checked the towels and they were still wet, so she turned the dial back to 50 minutes.

Couple hours later she checked the machine and it was off. Tried to restart, nothing.

I get home tonight and try it, nothing as well. Check the breaker under the master bed, wasn't tripped, but reset it anyway. Nothing...

In the morning I plan to pull the machine out and check things out on the backside...

Any help or ideas are welcome. Thank you!

    Call Westland Sales. Tel: 1-800-356-0766

They are in Oregon and Elkhart and they will help you diagnose the problem over the phone. They are very good. Of course they can also supply the necessary parts to fix the problem if necessary.

It is a 21 year old dryer. Just saying...

Yes, when our w/d was less than 10 years old, the belt slipped off the back and we had Westland in Elkhart look at it. It had to be pulled out, but the repairman said the bearing in the cross piece (looked like an X) that held the belt was bad and seized and that caused the belt to jump off. PART NO LONGER AVAILABLE, so it would require replacing the entire unit. He offered to put the belt back on. Said it might run once or twice. We said okay.

That was several years ago and it continues to run to this day.

My point is that parts for those units are not always available. But at least in our case, we didn't quite need it yet.

  • You do not state what Brand. Is it Splendide? If so, is it a combo washer/dryer? Is it a Combo VENTLESS washer/dryer? Doug

Good news, the breaker was tripped in my shed. Thanks to all for the replies!

    Awesome!
