Fleetwood Tioga Montara 25K

We're going to look at a used Fleetwood Tioga Montara 25K this weekend. It has a molded fiberglass front end. The roof isn't fiberglass like I've seen on the Nexus or the Forest River, but rather it is Tuff-Ply Roofing Technology. She has 1800 miles on her and is a 2013 model.

Any issues I should be concerned about w/ this model? It is on a ford 450 chassis.

  • **WE BOUGHT IT**

We looked at it, compared it to other models on the lot (Tioga Montera 23B, 29 ft Jayco Redhawk, and Coachman Leprechuan), drove it, then bought it. We should take delivery late next week. She is a used 2013 Tioga Montara 25K w/ 1900 miles on her. She is built on a Ford 450 chasis. I got her for under $50k which I think is a very fair price (at least I hope it is).

The only thing I will have to add is a back up camera.
Anyone have any suggestions for an after market back up camera system?
  • I don't mean to muddy the waters, but you should look at the Forest River Sunseeker 2500 with 3 slides. RV Direct sells this 2014 for about $68,000. Look at their website for specials and some good pricing: Jayco Redhawk 26xs, $55,980 for a 2013.

Might be a good buy if you can get a good price.

What would you consider to be a good price?
  • Might be a good buy if you can get a good price. Have you checked around to determine fair purchase price for new and used 2013's? Sometimes you can buy a new (2014) model one for the same price as the previous year model depending on your dickering skills and dealer inventory. We have a 2004 Tioga 26Q and have had no problems with roof leaks. Don't buy an extended warranty, they usually start coverage when 3 year housebox and appliance warranties and chassis warranty runs out and are full of loopholes.
  • I find it interesting that it only has 1800 miles on it. It's probably around 1,000 miles from the factory to any dealer in your area. I wouldn't worry about the roof.A fiberglass roof is preferable, but a rubber / EPDM roof is fine, as was previously mentioned. If those roofs were bad, the roof material manufacturers wouldn't be giving those long term warranties.
  • I had a 24-D which also has the corner bed. It's hard to climb out of there and much harder if two people are there. Otherwise it's a basically sound floorplan in a small package. Don't worry about the roof...most of the class c's are rubber anyway. Just keep it reasonably clean and avoid doing any damage to it.
