- joloooteExplorerBest & cheapest way is just to install DUel exhaust with as large diameter pipes and duel mufflers of coarse. Don't forget a BIG breathing intake filter...K&N ??? An engine is just a big air pump. Air in...Air out equals POWER! Nothins gonna do much for gas mileage tho.
- OFDPOSExplorerTest drove a 2012 NEXUS 23P the previous owner had put the Bank$ exhaust on and not sure what else ? It did have a Bank$ programmer in the glove box.
Yes the exhaust note was louder and sounded better then a few others we drove with the stock exhaust system. - gordhogExplorerI have a 2010 Jamboree E450. While inspecting the engine under the dog house, I noticed I had several missing exhaust manifold studs. Researching the issue, I found that broken studs is a common problem on the V10s because of the size of the cast iron manifold and the changes in shape due to heating and cooling cycles. I counted about 8 missing studs. Called around to several shops that could possibly work in RVs to R&R the studs. The few places that were willing to work on the RV estimated $1500 to $2000 to perform the job. I said "What the hell" and called Banks to find out the cost for their header replacement. They gave a price of $2000 for their "Power Plus header" done in house. This was a solution I could accept. Did the job in a day. All is now good. Mileage about the same, performance slightly improved. No manifold leaks.
Mike - photobugExplorerI've got both the exhaust system as well as the k&n air filter option. Both work well. 14K class c handled west coast mountains quite well. Previous owner installed so I don't know what it was like before. Was pulling an 8klb travel trailer with my e350 without the power pack, was straining over the same roads. Besides, the exhaust sounds cool.
- swages01ExplorerThanks for all the replies. It is interesting that when we looked at the Banks website, it stated that the upgrade was not available for vehicles in California. When we asked someone at Banks about that, she stated that they would install for us but we would have to be willing to accept that we are "bending the rules." Spending $4,000 on the upgrade and then not being to pass smog inspection definitely an issue.
- klutchdustExplorer IIIf it is a California vehicle be sure that the smog gods will pass it during your next inspection. Removing and replacing catalytic converters and exhaust systems can be a costly maneuver. Headers on a California vehicle may be an issue.
- Hank85713ExplorerI read the article, but it only addressed the class a engine. Did say that it would aid the class c series but nothing more. Anyone actually get one for the c? I might be interested in a better intake than the convoluted piece that is there. I am looking at a gibson muffler to replace the factory one. Not sure on the headers.
- carringbExplorerI wouldn't want a V10 without it. On the 305 HP motors, I feel the gains are understated (they post the same gains for the small-port 265 hp original V10s).
So much so, that when I finally broke the welds on my headers after ~300,000 miles and a broken motor mount (I thing the engine flopping around is what actually did them in), that I went ahead an put another set on at 430,000 miles.
It sure is nice being able to to pass other rigs, and sometime cars, while moving 22,000 pounds up a 6% grade at 60+ MPH.
Plus, the stock manifolds break bolts eventually anyways. Might as well mitigate that my adding more power;) - j-dExplorer III had a friend who was a mechanic and knew Mr. Gale Banks. Said Banks gear is good but very expensive. Other solutions about as helpful and less expensive. Always spelled it "Bank$".
I haven't added any tuner, headers, etc. but I can tell you that for me, I'd appreciate better management of our TRANSMISSION than a few HP on the engine.
But, we have a 4R100, and your TorqShift is already managed a little better than 4R100.
Is your Outlook a 29B? I ask because those are very heavy "29 footers." - 1492Moderator
