Ford Fiesta 4 WD

I'm considering a Ford Fiesta as a toad and was curious if anyone has any experience towing one with an automatic transmission. It must be automatic tranny for DW's sake. I think a Fiesta is one of the least expensive toads I've researched.

  • I've towed a 2013 Fiesta for about 8000 miles(Cal.to NY.and back) with no problems. Just follow the owners manual for rv pulling and disconnect the negative side of battery, I use a #10 nut driver. I pull with a Ready Brute w/Ready Brake and light system. With the car being so low to the ground in the front I've added a bra to the car when I tow, paid off in a 25 to 30 mile an hour side wind in New Mexico as the road department tossed a large shovel load of asphalt on to the highway. Missed the MH,but took about 2hrs. to clean the bra and windshield, can't imagine the time if no bra and the tar and rock got through the grill. What ever you tow, always enjoy the trip.
  • I have been pulling a ford fiesta for the last three years and haven't had any problems. Follow the manual on recreation towing and disconnect the negative cable. I use a disconnect on negative cable and ran a wire from battery to run my brake system stays hooked up all the time.
  • I see in the owners manual, you can tow it on all fours up to 70 mph. I see that the manual tells you to disconnect the negative battery cable. With the battery disconnected, you will not be able to use a brake buddy to apply the tow vehicle brakes. Does anyone know why you must disconnect the towed vehicle's battery?
