Forester 2861 - Chevy Chassis

Wife and I are looking for a smaller RV to use as a 6 month travel rig. The Forester 2861 - Chevy appears to be just about perfect for our intended use. We would add the Arctic Package and the A/C - Heat Pump options plus a few little things. If you have experience with recent models of this Class C I would like to hear your opinions on the "pros" and "cons". I wish the water tank (44 gal) was a bit larger and I could do without the silly outdoor TV / bar, but it does not look like I can delete that from the 2861.

Thanks, and Happy Camping!
  • Main con is the limited GCWR of the Chevy chassis. This could be an issue if you plan to towing.

44 gal isn't bad for a Class C. If you can find the space (under the couch or dinette maybe) its pretty easy to add a 2nd water tank.
  • We have a Sunseeker 2300 on a Chevy chassis and are very pleased with it (Sunseeker is lower price version of Forester). Consider getting the automatic levelers as option. We wish we had. The 15000 Btu AC with heat pump is an excellent choice.

You will find much more information from owners at forestriverforums.com
  • I can't speak about the Forester but I am very happy with my Chevy chassis. I get 9 MPG towing my car. After 9 years only minor problems.
