Found why water was leaking on the inside of the windshield.

This has been an issue since I owned the rig 2009 Itasca Cambri, I am second owner.. Only in heavy storms or windy storms. On my last trip I was coming home from Seattle and got a nice chip dead center and thought that was a bummer, few hours later got another ding and that broke the windshield. Repairman came to the house today, removes the original windshield (according to him) and we look and sure enough there was little to no adhesive/sealant on the area that leaked. Ford did a junk job installing the windshield . We looked and saw other issues with their work. Now, I have a clean windshield and after watching how a windshield should be installed, no leaks.
  • Glad you got that fixed. Work done by someone who actually cares is always better.
  • I hope the area was proper primed and painted. If you get rust under the seal, you will be buying another windshield !
  • I had a 2003 Super Duty that had the exact same issue. I took it to a glass shop and was told that it was close to impossible that a factory windshield would be leaking due to missing sealant. After a bit of searching, the tech. came out of the shop and said that there was a few inches above the mirror where there was a gap, that was actually missing sealant. Quick, easy fix, IIRC it was $35 to stop the leak.

There was no rust or paint deterioration in the area where the sealant was not properly installed. The old seal comes off with the windshield. Old caulking pulls off like a huge rubber string. A bead of new sealant is applied then the new windshield which already has the new seal affixed to it slides onto the frame on the top then pushes into place along the bottom.
    smooth as silk.

Good! This never should have happened, but the nice thing is, it put an end to the Guessing Game about this leak. And, a permanent fix!
