With the higher clearance and the winter tires I always drive on, I have to be mindful not to letting my brain wander, thus perhaps finding myself going off road. I also had an additional front leaf added..the RV had a tendency to porpoise. Also beefed up the Bronco shocks that the conversion company had installed.
I love the way it handles but under no circumstances is it a highway thoroughbred. It is not a vehicle for a beginner, I can sure tell you that. When Sharon started driving it, there was a sharp learning curve for her. It is not an SUV....it is a four-wheel drive motorhome.
You see CNN and that pass in California closed due to an accident? People taken out in sno-cats because once the scene was cleared too much snow had fallen and vehicles couldn't get going? "here..hold my beer and watch this".....
I want to add tho, that I am not your 'normal' kind of rv'r. I don't go fast unless they are chasing me. I am usually up some little dirt road looking for a great picture. Or bar. With the 4 wheel, I just go anywhere I want to. I am not a 'jeepy' person. No rock crawling stuff. Common sense has to be applied. I took a four wheel drive driving course, courtesy of of the Mojave NP, and the THE most important thing I learned is....stop, get out and walk ahead and LOOK.
