fridge freezes...on my side by side

My elite fridge freezes... I have a ice-maker switch that is turned on..is this the problem? I am on, electric.
It is wintertime(20F) and I am using the fridge, does this matter?
I used the fridge last summer, without my food freezing rock hard.
I lowered the temperature on the fridge to the lowest setting and still have the problem. I have now turned off the ice maker and not sure if this will solve my problem..any help will be greatly appreciated..thanks
if anyone needs my information...please let me know.

PS. the water supply is not on..the ice-maker is not set up but is constantly running. could that cause the fridge to freeze.
  • it seems to have come off. I don't know how to re-attach it.maybe rest it on the fins?
  • You need to be specific on your model number and age of the refer. Current model Elite(1350) is a 4 door. Older Elite was a true Side by Side with just 2 doors. Regardless, the Icemaker being ON will have no affect on freezing the regular side. RV Ammonia refers will not have an Icemaker affect on the regular side. Once you post a model number we can give you better help. Odds are the Temp Thermister for the Regular side is not sensing the interior temp correctly OR the Thermister has fallen off the evap coil. • As noted by OP thermistor has fallen off

There should be a bracket on far right fin in food compartment (fridge right side)
    that holds thermistor
  • domestic elite 1282..its a true side by side fridge.
    2000 bounder fleetwood..
    thanks

If the temp Thermister is NOT installed and hanging down then the refer will run continuously and indeed freeze. Doug

X2, get it back to stock function and see if it works then.
