Any downside to a full wall slide? I remember while back they had trouble with full wall slides not aligning correctly. Wonder if that's still true?
Not sure what the qualifications are of the manufacture's structural engineers are, but I for one, feel that's it's bad enough with 3 or 4 smaller holes punched in the sides of these rigs, let alone one that big.
Also saw a real mess with one not long ago and where the thing had 3 or 4 power-gear motors to contend with. The guys's tech had one removed and somehow managed to break off a few gear teeth trying to operate it manually.
Nope, not for me and just one more thing on my list of deal breakers.
I should probably also add that everyone with slides and especially those with full wall models, do some manual operations of such while at home in their driveways and not wait until they're out in Death Valley somewhere, needing a mobile tech.
Yes, I do realize that I commented on this before, but even with having a senior moment, I did add a few tid bits. - IvylogExplorer IIII agree with a previous post about that large a hole in the side of a house on wheels has potential structural problems, not that many MHs will survive a roll over.
If you have a Full Wall Slide then a 8' patio becoming only 6' is a concern... I can position my water bay against the hookups...off center of the pad.
In 12 years non of my four slides have been worked on...doubt many F W S will be able to say that at 12 years of half time use. - Mile_HighExplorerOne thing I like about the full wall slide is I can open it and have full access throughout the coach without ever opening the other two. In fact, if one of our smaller schwintek slides broke (knock on wood) and wouldn't deploy, it wouldn't even inconvenience us.
- J-RoosterExplorerIMHO, it's a matter of choice!
- HeisenbergExplorerThe full wall slide was repaired on mine by Winnebago via RV Dealer (goodwill) 3 years after purchase. A burned motor. The space created is great.
The trust in the full wall slide is diminished.
Winnebago has been with me on each issue. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIPersonally, we wouldn't trust a full slide.... or a kitchen in a slide.
- toolttimeExplorerI like the room the full slide has inside ours
- tinkererExplorerWe like out full slide on our Discovery. Like another poster stated that they should be leveled before deploying.
- wredmanExploreris there any other feature on RVs that gets as much attention than the full wall slides?
- J-RoosterExplorerYou full wall sliders thanks for the info! If I ever trade up I'll consider it!
