We are planning to upgrade our travel trailer to a Class A motorhome and plan to travel extensively around the United States. We have been told by folks with diesel pushers that we "must" purchase a diesel pusher or we will not be able to cross the mountainous states, e.g. Rockies. Is it true that you need a diesel pusher or can a Class A Gas motorhome suffice?
No, no part of that is true. A gas RV will do just fine anywhere in the US. PERIOD. The diesel pusher, with the engine in the rear will be much quiter and make for a more pleasant driving experience. The DP's also tend to be heavier with a more robust chassis making the ride itself also substantially nicer. The real thing you need to be looking at is a price that works in your budget and NO MATTER WHAT ELSE...Floor plan, Floor plan, Floor plan!
