3 - Exhaust brake or Jake Brake - I don't mind going up a mountain slowly but I sure do dislike going DOWN one Quickly.
4 - generally longer engine lifespan but not always.
Check your budget, check your plans for usage, check the floorplans and go from there.
X1 --100% Going down hills without a Jake Brake is a high level of anxiety and stress experience.! Looking in at smoke coming from your brakes as you are going down hill is not safe and can be expensive!
