I'm new to the class-b world, but I'm loving my diesel so far. I've only put 800 miles on her so far, but she is a joy to drive. Plenty of power and I'm loving the fuel milage I'm getting so far. I have not owned a gas powered unit, so I cannot comment or compare. But, for me, I'm glad I chose diesel.
Even if one could justify the gas chassis over the diesel the comparison at the genset level is so weighted in favor of the diesel units it sways the whole issue for me.
The old school flathead air cooled gas gensets are noisy antique fuel hogs,
With the exception of the now discontinued Honda EVseries.
The water cooled single and variable RPM based gensets are what allow affordable luxurious and affordable power on the go or boon docked.
The maintenance schedules and expected lifespans are orders of magnitude better, and you can often find very low hour units for 4-5K.
They use so little fuel and are so quiet and powerful there simply is nothing in the gasoline world that comes close.
