It would be good to weigh it. Ideally at all four corners, but the CAT scales, common at truck stops, give only three axle weights. They call them Steer, Drive, and Trailer. With an RV it would be Front, Rear, and Toad/Trailer. The coach's' wheelbase will have a lot to do with axle loading. Depending on wheelbase, you might not see any benefit to those extra 400# of front axle load rating. I don't have the numbers to prove it, but from what I see and read, there are more Class C's with overloaded rear axles and underloaded front axles than the opposite.
Also, if I had to guess, the coach will weigh out heavier, not lighter, than that placard, and you'll end up feeling worse than better about the Jambo.
Tom's right about mfr pushing the limits, buyer following their numbers, or not paying attention. Our Jayco is entry level by any definition. 31-ft with no slides and very Spartan interior trim. Our Axle Weights are in the high 90% ranges, Front and Rear. I think it's because they used a steel floor frame system and newer ones have aluminum. Looking at it, you'd never believe it's so heavy. And the placard says it isn't.

Not too surprising and no you are not missing something. We went to many RV shows before buying our RV. We found, not only Class C, but also Class A (usually gassers) that were very near their max chassis weight without people and stuff. Baja Man, you did the right thing by carefully checking the OCCC before purchase. Size, slideouts and other options really subtract from a unit's OCCC.

All you have to work with is that SCWR, the allowance for passengers, if you are not carrying them. A lot of 29-32 foot C motorhomes of that vintage were built very close to GVWR, particularly as long slideout rooms, or double slides, became "must have" for buyers. Yet you could still find "entry level" 32 footers with no slides, 1500-2000 pounds to spare on the E-450.

Something to be aware of, to consider, before buying. Manufacturers were counting on buyers not paying attention.

In comparison, the 2008 Winnie 29T has 1180# of CCC after GVWR, full fuel, full propane, 724# for passengers, and full water. This is due to 29T front axle at 5000#, 2' shorter rig, and small slide (dinnette only) vs large slide of Jamboree (couch and dinnette). What a difference! I'm getting better at understanding the capacities of the various rigs! It's a shame, as we really like the 31W. The 29T has a small slide, not as open a floorplan, but much more CCC. Why is it so difficult to make a decision!!

I guess if I had a newer model rig with the 5000# front axle, I could add this 500# to my CCC giving me 795 which would be great! Darn, and this rig is clean, floor plan is great, and price is right. I hate to pass it up. May be a moot point, as bank may not want to finance.

It's actually rated with 4 passengers at 154# each. It all seems correct on the sheet. The only thing I see where they may be room is the UVW. The base weight on the brochure is 11,841. Fuel is 336# so that leaves 528 for options that were installed.

Owner may have been at GVWR as trailer with 4 quads is not 3500# so the TW is not 350#. Probably closer to 2000# with TW at 200#. I'm not sure my TW is 350#. I;ll have to weight it to be sure. Bot sure if a public truck scale will weigh something so light?

The rig is rated that way by one 154# driver and an empty rig. No passengers, no water, no propane------

Of course the owners says it tows/stops great, never a problem...he's trying to sell it. And he probably doesn't have a clue that he was over GVWR, over GCWR, over Tongue weight. Might have been close on RAWR depending on actual weight on rear axle.

Ah the clash of the marketing world and the real world........

It might just be me, but I'll never deliberately operate a vehicle or pull a trailer that is overloaded. There are too many safety and legal issues to consider. If you were over the listed weights and had a serious accident, you could be held legally responsible.

I guess I'm one of those "weight police" guys.

with 4 of us we are about 600#. Again, I can't tow a trailer if I carry water? The owner carries 4 passengers (husband, wife, 2 kids) tools, clothes, food, extra 40 gallons of water (extra 40 gal tank installed under bed), and tows a trailer with 4 quads. Says it tows great and stops great. Never a problem.
