Generator Exhaust Stack

Has anyone ever made a generator exhaust stack for their RV? What I'm imagining is an exhaust extension that would reach up just past the roof of the RV. I'm hoping it achieves a couple of things. Most important, I'm hoping to get the exhaust fumes up above everyone hanging out around the RV. Second, I think it'll be a little quieter since exhaust is directional. The sound isn't particularly loud now, so that's much less of a goal.

This will likely be something that can easily be attached and removed, so that it isn't in place while traveling.

Thoughts?
  • Note that the "venturi" design of the Gen-turi does not create a back pressure issue with your generator, and the riser pipe remains relatively cool. They work well for redirecting the fumes and the exhaust noise away from ground level.

The Gen-turi is also available from Amazon.com for $109.

  • Search for Gen-turi and genturi (folks spell it both ways) in addition to results on the manufactured ones you'll find lots of ways people have made their own.

Our coach came with one, if it hadn't I'd have bought one for sure. They are easy to cobble together but for the price all the adapters and attachments are well worth the price of the "out of the box" one IMO.
  • Thoughts? Yes its called a GENTURI and can be purchased at Camping World, PPL Motorhomes and alot of other online RV parts websites...

  • Keep in mind that extending the exhaust pipe 12-14 feet will increase the back-pressure on the generator engine. This could have an effect on its performance.
