Generator Exhaust Tip

I've got a 1 1/4" straight steel exhaust pipe on my generator (Isuzu engine). I'm looking fgor a good quality chrome turndown extension. I'd prefer the type with a set screw rather than a clamp. PPL has the 1 1/4" but they are a little pricey ($44) and are the clamp on type. Anyone have a source for a 1 1/4" set screw type? Thanks.

  • Is this for looks only or is there any other purpose for the tip?

Just looks. I had them on our last rig on the gen and Aqua Hot and like the look. Those didn't vibrate off but come to think of it, I believe they were welded! I don't use the gen all that much so maybe the O'Reilly's one will be fine. Thanks for the input.

  • I have had a chrome tip on my Onan diesel generator that was set screwed. The vibration from the diesel was enough to loosen the set screws all the time.

  • O'Reilly Auto at less than $10.00. Just bought a straight one and they had a turndown one also at about the same price. Chrome, not stainless like the one that PPL probably has, that makes up the price difference. Hope this might help, Happy Trails Bert
