OP, congrats on your 2013 Fleetwood 40x DP. Your inverter runs off your 6 batteries that are charged by the engines alternator when going down the road... hence the "almost" free power. We cook in a crook pot when on the road and I've tried running my Norcold 1200 off the inverter, but it does not like (will not work) of the MSW power. About the only time I turn my inverter off is when we leave the coach when boondocking. On your inverter control panel there is a on/off position.
Our coach has 8 batteries. Two starting batteries, two 12V house batteries and four 6V batteries with the inverter. I do not think that the alternator will charge the inverter batteries when going down the road, since you have to switch the inverter from charge to invert to operate our residential refrigerator. The alternator does charge the other 4 batteries. It could very well on your coach since your four 6V batteries are your house batteries. I know that our 6V battery bank will operate our residential refrigerator at least 8 hours. You'll find that 12v/converter/inverter systems vary from coach to coach even with in the same brands.
