Bucky,
Having a M/H with a LP genset, is the worst thing any of us racers could have, because of the time we will spend away from shore power.
Just like you stated for the LP genset, 48 hours & it is done, tank empty, so you either do without or break camp & go looking for some LP gas or have a portable generator on hand.
I have a daughter & son-inlaw that race ATVs, & theres very few races we attend that we dont stay 4~5 days at the track just dealing with everything, but we have a gas M/H with 79 main gas tank to run the gen off of.
Having something to do with our race events, when checking out new track locations, I look for track locations that have RV hook ups or at least electrical & water, so that the racers can have some amount of comfort zone over the course of the event. Water is a main concern, you dont have fresh water at your track, you dont get our show.
There will not be many that will tell you, that the portable generators can be made to produce more than the 30A listed. A skilled electrician, can change the wiring around on just about all of them & do away with those troublesome 30A breakers.
If the mod has been done, you could get 50A out of them, have a main cord from the gen to a distribution box with couple heavy duty breakers & several plug in points to power just about anything.
Of course though, the genset would need to be at least 5~7000 watt size, but it could pull a 50A M/H with ease with this mod done. Check around at some of the electric motor shops & see if one would be willing to set your genset up to power your M/H.
