Generators with 30A outlets?

Why are they so rare? When we race, we may be there all weekend with no access to electricity. With the propane generator on my coach, I can run maybe 48 hours. So we need to fill in with a portable generator from the trailer. Why is is so rare to find 30A 110 generators? Their ratings should be plenty to support it. Even 50A should be possible with a lot of the larger ones. But we are forced to adapt down to a 15A outlet...20 at the most. Is this something that can be added to a generator? I'm not sure how generators are wired. There are probably more than one 120V leg, which would make it impossible to get the higher amperage at 120V output. You would only get the rated watt output with 220V output. Just rambling my way through the question.

They are not rare as I can see a 30A twist lock outlet on this one. and this one and this one. Granted you have to make up an adapter from the twist lock plug to the 30A RV plug. Oop's, you can even buy that now not like 30 years ago when I have to make my own.

Where can you buy a twist lock to rv plug adapter?
What would the amperage capability be when pulling from only one leg of that twist lock? I could make a cord that did this, but I don't think it addresses the problem.
  • An electrician should be able to make an adapter for you to use any generator and allow the maximum output of that generator available to your coach. Remember you have to consider starting amps as well as running amps when supplying power to items such as AC units.

If the generator is less than 3500 watts, it cannot produce 30 amps of power.

    I have a 3800 now, and may buy a 5500.
