genset bogs down under load

My genset was doing the same thing awhile back, and I added some SeaFoam in my fuel tank and it cleared up in about 15 minutes after the SeaFoam was added. I bought the SeaFoam at WalMart and it was $6.94 a can at that time. Good Luck

Well I'm pretty sure I messed up big time. I ended up taking my carb apart again. Seen some debris from the gasket I had to make & take off the governor spring & rod. I went & got me a new gasket & spring but when I went to remove the pilot jet to clean it I chipped off the brass & now it's stuck. I know I can drill it out but they do not make a rebuild kit for this carb. My question is does someone know what size the pilot jet is?

OK I will check to see if I gave the service manual. The guy that gave me the rv kept great records of all the paper work he had.

Guess I neglected to say that I usually have to give it a shot either to get it cranked.

Go to Onan and get the Service manual for your model Genset. It will tell you how to set up the Governor system and the idle. Without the Service manual, you will just be spinning your wheels. There is a specific procedure for setting up the Governor and without the Manual you will not get it right. Your problem may also be the "Idle" adjustment. The Idle screw should be set so when you manually decrease the throttle the output voltage drops to about 90 volts. IF the Idle screw is backed off too far, then when the genset bogs down the speed drops to far and the Governor cannot keep up. Doug

& no the fuel is not fresh. But I can't drain the tank because it is 3/4 full. I did pull the hose from the tank & put it in a gas can full of fresh gas & beriman B12. Still did the same thing.

Also is your fuel fresh

It seems to me that it is a governor issue or a voltage regulation issue.

I'm not sure since I can't seem to get it to switch zones. That is another issue I will have to fix. But it does it with just the microwave as well.

And Doug thanks for the help but I am not fixated on the fuel system. I am just fixing things I know I can do & what I can get to, & what I have seen online. I know the gov spring is hooked to the carb but it does throttle up on it'd own so I'm assuming it's connected. If I need to replace the spring then where can I get one & how do I change it.
As you can tell I don't know much about generators. I replaced the spark plugs like you suggested, I pulled the carb off & cleaned it spotless, as suggested. Just tell me what to check next so I can do it. I would take it to a technician but since the rv is not drivable at the moment & I can do most mechanic work myself then I'm trying to fix what I can. The Governor system is what keeps the unit from bogging down. When there is a LOAD, the engine starts to bog down. In that split second the Governor linkage/spring holds the throttle to keep the RPM's at 1800. You are fixated on the Fuel system. Doug
