Funny I should run across this post. We went from a tent to 2 different pop-up's, then a 19ft, 24, and lastly a 30ft TT. I can say, forget the pop-up. Cold weather makes for needing some heavy blankets to keep warm while sleeping. And very hot weather, the roof A/C needs to run full time to keep in cool. Tent fabric sux. If I was you, go with a TT, get the largest you think you'll need and can tow with your current vehicle.
Our ( hopeful ) move to a Class A involves wanting something with a built in Genny. Park were we want, when we want and still have some comfort. But we are planning on a 2-3 month vacation next summer ( we're both retired now ).
