Goodyear Tires

There are too many that never experience the problem. A retired tire engineer who is on his second or third set of Goodyear's explained to me the problem as pressure, pressure and more pressure. Now, is it all pressure probably not, but it probably contributes a large element. Tire inflation charts are meant to be used as a guide not as a law. Most, who I have talked to are inflating just to the actual weight and adding nothing for anything and ignoring the recommended pressure by the coach manufacturer.

I know you said the shocks are fine, but at 44,000 miles I have to question their performance. They may not be leaking, but I feel confident in stating they have lost some of their performance, it is only natural. Couple that with most MH's chassis are under shocked in the first place and you have a recipe for a problem.

I sold a lot of tires, in a lot of different brands and those who brought their cars in with similar tire wear patterns that people with MH's call rivering, we would say indicated suspension problems. I learned early on, that telling a customer he wasn't inflating his tires to the proper pressure was also a recipe for disaster. It is truly amazing how many customers especially the MEN get angry when someone ever implies that they are not doing what they should be doing, and there you have it. The real reason why every one is told that their suspension, alignment, shocks, air pressure or whatever is perfect. So it has to be defective tires.

I have the Goodyear G670 tires they have and are always checked for air pressure before each travel day! They have been checked by tire shops including Goodyear for any tire issues they have been rotated twice maybe three and balanced in the 44,000 miles I have had them. Alignment is good and shocks are good I do think they are a good tire. But they are rivering as others have posted here. So who is to blame? The facts are I take care of my equipment but the tires are rivering why? No one really seems to know why. But I am looking to replace my tires soon and I am looking at Michelins and I hope they do not develop side wall cracks and checking like my last ones did. And that I will take responsibility for, the cracking, because I did not cover them when parked.

I do have a question for you that stated that the owners of the Goodyear tires are to blame for the rivering. Do you have or own the Goodyear G670 RV tires?

As some of the previous posts here indicate, many people that have Goodyear G670 RV tires have NOT had any problems. Every time this subject comes up there always seems that the majority of owners do not have a problem with them. Why others do have a problem is unknown.

We had those on a mh we just traded. We had about 26,000 on them in five years. No problems, no cracking and no revering. They performed well for us.

We have GY G670s...295/80R22.5. They are doing fine. You'll find people unhappy with any tire you mention, there will be somebody who had a problem. What you don't know is if the tire is at fault, or the driver (low TP, excessive speed, over weight, etc).

Get the tire with the best deal, because the tires will dry rot long before you can wear them out by high mileage.

Second basher here. I had your goodyear tires and they were barely 5 yrs old when I was going 70 on interstate and I had a blowout in the drivers front. Lucky to be alive. I heard goodyears tend to blowout. I ride on Michelins now and love it.

I have had G670s on my past two coaches and never had an issue with any of them. Of course, I weigh myself regularly and keep the tires inflated to their proper pressure. I'm also pretty easy on my equipment. When I bought the Exec, it had Michelins on it but they were originals. I replaced them with G670s three years ago. They perform well and I've had zero issues with them. I did change out the steer tires to Michelin as I went to the 315s, and GY does not make that size. I'm very satisfied with both brands. They were all made here in the US and were only two weeks old when they were installed. The Michelins were 30 days old.....hope this helps...D

On our previous coach, our 255/70-22.5 G670s worked just fine for about 30,000 miles. However, around that time, both front tires started "rivering" (small scallops on outside edge of the tread) and proceeded to get worse in the next 5000 miles. I could not tell any difference in the handling aspects, and I never had a problem with loss of air. We sold the coach with the tires on it and I understand that the dealer put new tires on it before he sold it.

and read them.
