The idea of GPS operated speedometer has become very popular in the last couple of years. You don't see a lot of complaints on the forums, so I think it is a perfectly good idea. The only drawback you might have is the initial delay at startup before it has found the satellites, however the fact that you own a DP, most likely the time it takes for your air pressure to come up, the GPS will probably have locked on.
As far as the delay, that is intentional damping built into the calculation. They tend to average out the signals, otherwise you would get a lot of jumping around. The reality is, all electronic speedos have damping built in. For example, my cooper accelerates faster than the speedo damping, so by the time the speedo reads 50, I'm doing about 63 or so. Slam on the brakes, and its the same thing. As much weight as you have in your motorhome, I doubt that you will ever out accelerate, or out brake the electronic damping.
