GPS

We have a 2014 Winnebago 37F with the built-in GPS from Rand/Good Sam.
This is a horrible GPS. It does not have the same software as the portable units from Rand/Good Sam. First searching on Henderson, NY does not return the location. I contacted Rand and was told "Henderson is not a City" you have to search on "Henderson, town of, NY" Really???? Google, Mapquest, Yahoo, WeatherUnderground, and my Garmin locate it no problem. Tech support told me we're not Google they "compensate for town, city". Also when I went to locate the KOA near Henderson, NY I could not sort the campground list by KOA. Tech support told me to use the "Spell" button. Well in the built in unit the Spell button is not present. I was told not all "features" are available in the built in unit like the portables. A "Spell" button is a feature? The support person offered to walk me thru using the GPS within it's limited features. I have not taken them up on that offer yet. I am glad I did not pay for this feature in the motorhome it was included on the unit. I have the Garmin dezl 760LMT and it is far superior to the Good Sam product. When I mentioned this to the tech support person he hung up on me. I have used the Garmin for over a year in our last motorhome and also in our car. It's not perfect but head to head with the Rand/GoodSam it wins hands down.

We have the Good Sam Rand McNally which we purchased after squeezing back through a tunnel on a road we shouldn't have been on. Just enter the size of your rig, your tanks, your propane, your weight, and it will not steer you wrong. It lists campgrounds, gas stations, rest areas, Walmarts, all the the touch of a few buttons, and will calculate your mileage with every fill up. Even knows what gas station you're at! Love it!

It seems that garman RV760 is liked most so Thanks' and I will check it out

We are happy with our RV760 as well.

We use the Rand MC Nutty now but have the Garmin for a backup. The programing must be done in china and using old Maps from the 1700s up through 1945.
Even updated every little bit they both leave out sections of Interstate and other roads built in the 70s forward. Old cow paths, Indian Fiords, I kid you not, Stage coach road, and goat paths.
Invariably they direct you through some towns and to places to eat that have all been out of business many years. The new chains may be on the Rand but we haven't looked.
One of my favorites was two years ago being directed to make a u turn and go back about ten miles, turn right and many goat paths back out on the same road we were originally on two miles down the road.
Then there was the directions to turn right along a big crosswalk and into Lake Michigan and back along the shore underwater.

We like the Garmin RV 760. Nice bug bright screen. We use the bean bag mount so we can place it anywhere on the dash. As with any GPS, we also check the route ourselves and know where we are going. But it is great - we do not like to travel without it in the RV or the car.

I use my Android phone in the car,, Though there is now a movement to make that impossible.

In the RV I use Microsoft Streets & Trips, one of several such programs, not the best but I was already trained on this one (And Rand McNally) from work, so I use it. Other competing prorams include Co-Pilot Live which is designed for drivers of LARGE vehicles (SEMI Trucks) and may be better suited to RVing need.

S&T does have one RV feature.. Woodall's Campground guide built in.

I got the 2013 version with Dongle (GPS) and love it, way better than older versions and lower cost too. sixty seven bucks, not counting laptop.
