Grand Canyon camp grounds

We will be there in mid-September. Any suggestions as to the best place to park for a few days?

Thanks in advance.
  • We enjoy staying in the park with full hookups at Trailer Village RV Campground. Very close to the rim, shuttle stops at the entrance, cafeteria, store, gift shop nearby.
  • The best place is Trailer Village in the park itself (not Camper Village in Tusayan outside the park).
Trailer Village has full hookups and is within walking distance to the Rim. The free shuttle also stops there.

Mather is a dry campground - no hookups.

Williams is about 50 miles south of the Canyon. It's too far for daily visits. If doing the train you will only have a couple hours at the Canyon.

Stay at Trailer Village in the park. You'll be close to everything.
  • our continued favorite is Circle of Pines KOA in Williams. It is 60 miles (1 hr) in the toad to the South Rim. Lovely, full service campground, heated indoor pool, large sites. When camping up at the rim you have the heliport noise. JMHO
  • Mather CG is in the National Park and closest to the Canyon. Limited hookups but sites are ok. We stayed at Grand Canyon Camper Village about 5 miles or so from the park entrance. It has full hookups but the staff is not very helpful. We were there to see the Canyon so it didn't matter too much. Have fun.
