I've driven that stretch many times. Two years ago my brother was involved in a nasty crash just outside of Wellington. He was following me (I was in the MH) and he was in a Ford Explorer. We were coming home from the Jeep Safari. The road is just fine--the drivers are crazy. The Utah Highway Patrol told me it was the most accident prone stretch of road in the state. They also told me that there were fewer accidents early in the morning in the middle of the week. So, I try to hit that stretch in those conditions. There is a lot of weekend traffic from Salt Lake going to Moab. The weekend warriors are in a hurry and can be reckless. I would avoid driving south on Friday afternoon or north on Sunday.
