Grease fittings late model Chevy Express Van

Does any Express van owner here do their own grease jobs? My 2014 manual does not list the lubrication points. I found 10 across the front end:

2 ball joints at each wheel = 4.
2 tie rod ends.
4 steering joints in the middle.

Did I miss any? I was crawling underneath so it was not easy to see or operate. The driveshaft u-joints don't seem to have any.

  • Yeah, well, I had to get the oil changed out here on our trip to AZ. The Oro Valley Jiffy Lube said the chassis was all sealed fittings, nothing to grease. I didn't bother pointing out his lie since I had just greased it before we left.
  • This is something I really need to look into myself but the last time I was on the road and had the oil changed at Walmart they listed lubed 16 zerks. I dont know if they got all of them but I was surprised they found that many.

I was thinking the same.. found another on the last go around besides what's already listed. There's solid ice under it right now so unable to look.

Just pump the grease till the rubber boots swell, not till they leak. Leak usually means the rubber has failed and that can let dirt in.
  • I think the idler arm pair are among the 4 fittings I found in the midsection part of the steering linkage?
  • If you look on the passenger side in the front fender well, at the frame forward, above the idler arm you will see a cut out and you should find a zerk for the idler arm inside. It may be covered by the rubber skirt from the fender. If you do find it you will also find one above the idler arm on the drivers side. It however it is not to the out side but to the inside (pointing same way as the one on the passenger side), so will have to work around the power steering hoses ect to grease it.. Good Luck.

  • I don't think you missed anything, mine has the same, none on the driveshaft.

Chevy made it pretty simple to lube maybe not to see but simple. :B
