We have generally left ours open when at one site for a time.
When we run the washer it is left open.
However, we started to connect at one site in Miss. I saw huge slugs crawling up inside their sewer connection.
We were going to leave it open for the evening and wash clothes.
We didn't connect at all and watched the monitor for water level in the gray tank. Connected in the morning, after making sure black and gray tanks were filled from thee flush system and rinsed all the slugs and anything else back down their sewer.
If we stop just for the night we may connect the hose but leave the valve closed. Need a full tank of soap etc to rinse the hose out good anyway, in the morning.
