Guardian Generator Problems

I have a 2008 Windsport Motorhome.

Generator started giving trouble last spring. Went to camping world and they said I needed a new voltage regulator but that they couldn't get on. I found one online and had it installed by a trusted repair man.

Tested the generator for about 30 min. and it ran great. The next day started it and it ran for about 15 min. and shut off. Started again and ran for about 7 or 8 min. and shut off. Started again and ran for about 3 to 4 min. and shut off. Started again and ran for about 1 min.

This has happened every time I have cranked it up.

Any suggestions?
  • Mine was acting that way. I had my trusty repair man work on it. He installed 2 new fuel filters and a new fuel pump and a new gas line. for a total of $120.00 . Now it runs great.
  • Does it have a "low oil shutdown". I hate to oversimplify but not everyone knows.
  • Check to make sure the coolant level is not low or the coolant belt is not having problems. Had the same with my Gardian & it was overheating.
  • they have a high temp sensor that shuts the unit down sensor could be bad

Did you ever get this sorted out? I am having issues with mine right now. They are telling me either Voltage Regulator or Stator and Brushes. Not loving my RV Guardian at the moment. We were supposed to start a trip in the morning but that's not gonna happen. Once they figure it out they have to order parts that I guess are not being made anymore and are hard to find. How can a manufacture just stop producing parts for a product they sell. Just isn't right.. I'll never own a coach with a Genrac again..
