- Son_of_NorwayExplorerWe love our '89 HR. Even with repairs and maintenance, we have enjoyed years of camping trips with it for a small fraction of the cost that others pay for newer coaches.
Miles - amandasgrammaExplorerTwo...a 1984 that was 21 feet long. Got rid of it for a 24 footer. Both were better rigs than the one we bought that was 2 yrs old. Now we have a rig that was 4 yrs old, but only used once. QUALITY is what's important, not age.
- wolfe10ExplorerTwo of the three coaches we have purchased in the last 17 years were 10 years or older. Afforded us the quality we wanted at a price we could afford.
Be sure to have a complete mechanical inspection done AND unless Maintenance Records suggest up to date fluid and filter changes, tires batteries, etc, set aside $8-10K to get it back to tip top condition. - ChowanExplorer

We've owned an '86 Class C, a '93 DP Class A, a '95 gas Class A, and currently an '01 gas Class A, all more than 10 years old when we bought them. The '86 and '95 needed some relatively minor repairs and upgrading going in, but we knew that when we bought them. All of them, except our current coach of course, were sold for more than we paid for them after several years of making memories for us. The '93 and '95 are still actively being used by the buyers. I lost track of the '86, but as of a couple of years ago, that one was still going as well.
Thanks for the info. For me this info is very important as I begin to look and research and evaluate - ChowanExplorer

Mine is 12 years old and I plan on using it for another 12 years... or more. By now I know it really well and nothing newer has anything I need.
THanks for sharing. Good info - ChowanExplorer

We purchased our previous coach when it was 10 years old. It was a gas Bounder with 92k miles and we purchased it from the original owner. The motor and trans were gone thru at 90k miles It was in terrific condition, had all the maintenance records and to us it was a great buy. We had it another 4 years and traded it with 116k miles and it ran like a top. The reason we traded was I was near retirement and wanted something a bit larger. We have kept in contact with the owners of the previous coach and now 7 years later they are still enjoying it and it has 168k miles on it. They claim it still runs perfect. It has the Ford F53 chassis with the 460 V8. Hope this helps and as said it was a great experience for us.
Our coach now is 11 years old and in top condition. Wouldn't even think of replacing it. Good Luck and hope you find the one that is right for you.
thanks for sharing. This is good news as I begin my search. - Dutch_12078Explorer IIWe've owned an '86 Class C, a '93 DP Class A, a '95 gas Class A, and currently an '01 gas Class A, all more than 10 years old when we bought them.
