I have never really felt threatened except once when we were very new at camping. We rented a spot up in Guerneville, CA, at a very small campground (10-12 spots). I had my reservation for months and when it was time to go, the owner said that the campground was for sale and that we would be the only campers.
The first night we got parked (rented new 2004 31 ft. class-C Fleetwood Tioga), at about 10 PM, a little red car pulls up facing us with their headlights on us (I think it was a Pontiac Sunfire). Anyway, they stayed there for a while shining their lights on us.
I peeked out the window a couple of times but didn't go outside. I called the local sheriff's office and a recording came on stating that the office was closed and to call 911. I didn't feel threatened enough to call 911. After a little while, the car just left. I thought I could call Andy and Barney if we felt threatened again.
It was really odd but nothing else has ever happened again in the 7 yrs. and 65,000 miles that we have been camping. We don't own a weapon, I'm just not comfortable with them even though I come for a law enforcement family.
