Have you ever felt threatened while camping?

Here's my two most recent times. Both in Hillsdale County, Michigan. I'm an avid spring turkey hunter & hunt on 300 acres of a buddies land there. It's fronted on a seasonal dirt road. His access dirt 2 track is chained off & goes up hill into woods several hundred yards & bends left where I park & can't be seen from the road. An old, falling down cottage is still close by. He's had a terrible time with trespassers & vandalism. About 8 years ago I was getting ready to sleep in my 20' Class B and hear some distant engine noise. I had my unloaded shotgun in the mh just in case rather than it's usual place locked in the basement. I get out with it (unloaded) & my large maglight & wait. Coming through the brush are 2 atv's with guys around 20. I wait until they get up near me & hit them with the light with my gun pointed up in the air so they could see it. The first spins away through the thick stuff. I confronted the 2nd and got him to leave & he promised never to come back. When I told the owner he said I should have had the gun loaded as these guys could have been the really bad ones & been armed.

Last year the same place, at 1 am I'm awakened by engine noise & headlights. I look out the back window & see a big pickup turning around & spinning his tires right behind me & taking off back down our drive. By the time I got dressed & out he was gone. I hiked down to our cabled gate. He had riven right over it with his raised tires & destroyed the posts. I think he was one of the really bad guys. My shotgun was in with me, glad I didn't need it.

The owner 2 years ago had hidden cameras photo 2 trespassers & vandals & the one guy ended up in prison for that & some other serious crimes.
