I'm curious to know if there is RVing through out the Islands? State, Federal or Private RV Parks? Are there any RV Dealerships there? I can't recall hearing from any RV.Net posters from Hawaii?
We were there two years ago and noticed several camp grounds right on the beach mostly tents but a few TC's and C's. It was either Maui or Kauai, it may have been both.
Years ago, I read a camping trip vacation article in One of the camping magazines There was a rental company and certain state parks and beaches on the big island where one could camp for the night
Thanks for the posts so far and I'm assuming that there is no RV dealerships anywhere in Hawaii? I've only been to Hawaii one time we stopped to refuel as I was on my way to Vietnam (1969) so I'm out of the loop about RVing in Hawaii.
A couple of years ago, we cruised to/from Hawaii. Going into Honolulu harbor, I saw an RV park on the starboard side. Lots of RVs, but I don't know if it was private, state, etc.
When I was at Oahu doing military thing I saw several rentals that were VW camper van style. Maybe people combining housing and rental car? But didn't see any class A's or RV parks that I remember. Did notice several state parks.
I work on Oahu (splitting my time with Central Oregon). I've been on the lookout for places to go, and there's nothing. I mean there's great places to go, but zero accommodations or infrastructure for RVs. Many parking lots don't even design main entrances for larger rigs. You'd have to use the loading dock entrances at some big stores even.
