Heat pump working at 28 degrees ambient
I did an experiment with my heat pump tonight. Wanted to see at what temp it would switch to the furnace. It is down to 28 right now and the heat pump is still running blowing 104 degrees out the vent...

I was up in the high desert in Lancaster CA a few weeks ago we had temps down into the teens. My heat pumps worked well down to about 20 degrees. They would go into a defrost cycle about every 10 minutes. Below 20 deg the propane furnace would come on as Aux Heat only to assist the heat pumps.
