I once had a conversation with a trucker hauling new cars at a rest stop near mountain tunnels. He had an upside down L shaped tool for checking the height of the load.
When we went MH shopping, we had a house eave we needed to clear. I made an L shape tool out of a 15' adjustable golf ball retriever. Remember that air bags and load will change height.
You could also park next to a stairway, hold a 1x2x8' , resting level on the highest point and measure to the ground.
