Big vehicle, brake troubles... do yourself and your family a favor and park it until it's fixed. There. I said it. Someone had to.
Ok... really didn't want to sound snippy. But... whether it's brakes, an electrical short, bad bearings... all those make heat and you know what heat makes. Really... let's fix it before driving it any further than absolutely necessary. Preferably, straight to the mechanic.
