For the OP, you also need to make sure that the entrance / garage floor are perfectly level. If either one is not level, front wheels are outside and rear wheels are inside, part of your coach will be higher.
Personally, I'd be very worried trying it with anything less than 3" of excess room and even that is not very much ...
As far as the air suspension, on ours (03 Phaeton on Freightliner chassis (very common chassis)), the air suspension does lower it 2-3 inches (never actually measured) but you can't manually control it and as soon as you start the motor, it does refill the suspension so it would be tricky driving it at the most lowered position. That said, some coaches do have a manual dump switch (e.g. I think most Fleetwood DPs have that).
