Help With Collision Repair

Hello, we were on I695 in MD near exit 9 at 6 last night and our RV was hit by a car. Damage to the rv's front cowl. Not very drivable. We went to an RV collision repair shop in Beltsville, MD by the name of Queens Town RV.
I have never had this happen before and am looking for some advice. They will need it for 6 weeks while we are back home 400 miles away. That is not a problem. Most thankfully no one was hurt in the RV and in the other car. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.
  • We bought our coach from Queenstown RV when they used to sell RVs. They are a part of College Park Collision which is a huge Geico collision center and they also own College Park Honda and Hyundai. They will fix your coach. However it is possible it will take 12 weeks instead of 6 weeks depending on parts, they are a super busy place. If not driveable, I would probably just leave it with them. If driveable, drive it back to hometown for repair.
  • If it was mine I would drive as fast as possible on back road to home 400 miles away and get it repaired where 1) you know the mechanic, 2) you can keep it on track, 3) if problems arise you are closer to the repair shop.

did you notify your insurance company? did you make a police report?
  • Great that no one was hurt but I would try to make sure that you have someone to nag the repair facility so that it keeps on schedule and repairs your coach within 6 weeks. I am very surprised that they were able to give you a 6 week time frame within 24 hours.
Some places have a habit of sitting on a project like yours knowing that you can't take it anywhere else. Make sure that you nag the insurance company as well to get your coach back, especially if it was the other driver's fault.
