help with long term storage

We have sold our home and moving into a condo. We will need a place to store MH. Can any recommend a place near Kalamazoo MI ? Do you disconnect a battery cable to prevent a dead battery? Are there any good RV parks near Kalamazoo that I could use during the summer. We take the MH to FL. for the winter. Any other things I should know about long term storage? Thanks!!!!

Not disagreeing with previous post, but for several years I fill the fuel tank and add the proper amount of Seafoam to the tank. Let both engine and generator run long enough so the Seafoam treated fuel has time to run all the way through.

That's exactly what I would do
  • We stored our coach outside the first winter we had it. We filled the gas tank ( so there would not be condensation) and put the appropriate amount of Stabil in the tank - ran the engine and generator for a few minutes and then shut off. We have a battery disconnect switch for both the engine and house batteries. We shut them both off. In hind site, we would remove the battery and put it in a garage or somewhere a little warmer. It was a cold winter that year , but we turned the switch on, and it started right up. I should add that this was in Michigan a couple hours north of you.

x2 fill tank and dump sta-bil or sea foam in. if you empty it your tank will sweat some and you will have moisture and eventually trouble.

  • I'm a West Coast guy so I can't help you with storage, but I recommend that you get rid as much fuel as possible before your coach is going to storage. Take Care, Rooster
  • I store mine at Stowaway Storage in Portage MI. It's only been for a short time but so far so good. There is a fair selection of campgrounds around so it depends upon what you are looking for.
  • Yes, always disconnect the negative cable on both sets of batteries or have a true battery disconnect switch installed.
