Hit a tree in the rv park

Just in case you all were wondering the tree that I hit has been removed at the RV Park immediately. I don't know how to post pictures here but there's an RV there now in the stump is underneath it. Not sure why they removed my post but it's all good

  • It's a bit unrealistic to expect every park should cater to every size and type of RV. Conversely, the park staff should be aware of tight turns, and not send a customer blindly down a road they're going to have trouble navigating.

I like a well treed site, and also my dislike of reservations has meant i've been stuck with less than optimal sites to get into, like a site with trees only 8ft apart, so you must thread the needle backing in.

Only once did I give up on a less than ideal site. It was heavily treed and on a steep downhill grade. I had to turn sharply and also accelerate backwards up the hill. After trying for half an hour, I asked for a refund and found a different park.

I have hit trees before while landing, luckily without damage so far. Never would I blame the park for a tree, or for any damage that might happen (not that the State or Federals would accept liability anyways.) I have insurance for such events should I need it.
  • I've been in several RV parks that have trees planted on the corners where turns need to be made and the roads are tight (Flagstaff KOA comes to mind). Other parks have trees that are right up against the concrete pad and don't leave much room to park an RV, very tight fit (Fool Hollow in Show Low, AZ comes to mind). If I wasn't almost 60 feet long it probably wouldn't be an issue but the parks need to rethink their trees and give us some maneuvering room in this age of big RV's.

Your previous post is still HERE

    It just got closed........

And I can see why it got closed.
  • If you have ever been to Beavers Bend State Park (OK), there are some site access roads and some sites you better look on both sides and up and down or you will "customize" your RV. Almost did it to mine as I was looking for a good site rather than paying attention to the trees. Stopped just in time. But I would surely hate to see them cut the trees back.
  • Nice to see that they have dealt with the tree. Now nobody else has to have a problem with it. It is ultimately our own fault when we hit something but never the less stuff happens and nobody is perfect.
  • Did you severely injure the tree when you hit it with your vehicle? It's a shame that a healthy tree should be removed.
