I put the ice maker back in. Bought a Flo Pure softener backed up by a charcoal filter. Now, no water spots, good water and ice. Good enough for ice tea and coffee.
yep, my ice maker was as easy to winterize as my outside shower which I never used anyway. If you get to an area with skunky water, i.e. Iowa City Iowa, Tyler Minnesota, etc., just shut er down for awhile.
