- Johno02ExplorerJust always make sure there is a high truck-trailer in front of you. If he makes it through, then you(Maybe) can. Watch our for tunnels and underpasses that are lower on the sides than the center.
- cbshoestringExplorer IIAsk your wife how tall it is. Women know everything. :B
If you hit something, it will still be your fault. :S
Level from highest point held out so it overhangs edge....measure from lower portion of level to ground. Add a couple inches cause bigger is always better, and size does matter. - Sprink-FitterExplorer

If you really want to get accurate, take a box of donuts to a tire place or repair shop that has a roll up bay door and bribe the guy to let you use it for a few minutes. Pull in so your highest point is underneath the roll up door. Get on top of your RV, reach out to the side, drop a tape measure and measure from the bottom edge of the door to the ground. Then measure from the bottom edge of the door to your highest point. Subtract the small distance from the big distance.
My fifth wheel is 13'- 1 3/8" tall.
Why not just stay home and use a 2X4? - CbonesExplorerI hope you have a lot of hair to pull out, cause you are going to go through a lot. Remember, no tunnels if you have propane on board. Short of that I wish you lots of luck. NYC is not a very RV friendly environment especially when it comes to finding parking.
- J-RoosterExplorerI send my Grandson up the ladder onto the roof with a tape measure. We measure the ground to the highest obstacle sticking up above the roof. Then I use a piece of scotch tape which is in the lower left corner of front windshield and write my overall height on the scotch tape with a magic marker. That way my height will always be there for trips later on down the road no forgetting "Write it don't say it". And remember all that changes with ice or snow on the road surface.
- EffyExplorer IIFound this on line:
Exterior Height 12' 1"
Exterior Height (with Satellite) 12' 5"
Tropical Spec Sheet
These specs are on the Freightliner but I can't imagine there would be much difference and if so it has to be nominal. Either way you are still well under any legal bridge requirements by about a foot to a foot and a half. - Hiking_HunterExplorerIf you really want to get accurate, take a box of donuts to a tire place or repair shop that has a roll up bay door and bribe the guy to let you use it for a few minutes. driving thur manhattan with a rv, you going to get a surprise!
Ya in all seriousness, I live 9 miles outside of Manhattan. The only path I'd RV thru there is Route 95... No surface streets. And bring plenty of $$$. $19 per axle cash to cross the Hudson River. - yrusosloExplorerHave someone hold a 2x4x12ft across the heightest point, most likey the ac unit. Then measure from the bottom of the 2x4 to ground. Or buy a truckers teloscopic measuring stick at a good truck stop. great item to carry
