How does a Honda Fit Sport do as a TOAD ??

Hi All

We are finally looking into getting a toad for our Class A & would really appreciate any & all input as how this type of vehicle is when being towed down the road, to hook up etc.
The wife has a 2006 Prius now & she has agreed to go for the 2013 Fit if it will work out for us.
Thanks for your comments & suggestions !!

  • Probably hiring out the whole installation.
    Thanks !

  • Bill,

Will you be installing the baseplate and wiring (i.e. price on parts only) or hiring out the whole job?
  • For Luvlabs

How much will we be looking at spending over & above the toad to buy & have installed the necessary towing stuff ?
    Thanks.

  • No guarantees on the 2015 since it will have a CVT transmission. Buy a 2013 or younger now will the automatic version can still be towed.

The Fit is an excellent toad. We've got about 16,000 miles on ours with another 14,000 being towed. We average about 37 mpg driving it (with an auto trans). Follow the recreational towing instructions in the manual and you will have no problems.

We have ours equipped with a Blue Ox baseplate (although in retrospect I would use a Demco), a Tow Daddy wiring harness (Demco makes a similar system), and a Toad Charge. We use an RVi2 braking system and, before you even ask, you should have auxiliary braking. RVi also makes a pretty slick toad charging system as well as tire monitoring system.
  • The Fit will also be my next tow vehicle! I just don't know what year I want to buy? I'm awaiting info on the 2015 to see if they can be towed all 4 down, which I prefer.
